April 29, 2020

Around the world, people are finding new ways to feel connected to loved ones, reaching out across screens and sharing moments as we continue this uncertain time of social distancing. In some instances, it has even brought us closer together, filling our time with familiar faces and inventing new excuses to reach out to those most import to us.

This is on full display in the new lyric video for “The Prayer,” from Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion. The pair asked fans from everywhere to help them deliver a new message, holding up signs of hope from their homes, and connecting via video to show the power of unity.

“We asked people around the world to come together over video for the new official lyric video for Andrea and @celinedion's much loved single, 'THE PRAYER'” Bocelli shared in a tweet. “Thank you fans of the world for your wonderful participation!”

The 20-year-old song has taken on new meaning in this crisis, standing at the center of some big moments as a call for togetherness. The massive One World: Together At Home special closed with a special performance of the track, featuring John Legend and Lady Gaga. Even bigger than “The Prayer,” the soaring voice and comfort of Bocelli has become a guide for many lately, from his performance on Easter Sunday to moments like the video above.

"The Prayer" won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1999. It was also nominated for a GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals in 2000.
